We picked up Alice White Lexia 2006 in one of the increasingly popular 175ml bottles that one finds in four packs or even in dump bins in supermarkets. It’s a convenient package for solo wine drinkers who find it difficult to finish a whole bottle before it starts to decline, and handy for situations where people can’t agree on the same wine. This Lexia (another name for Muscat of Alexandria) comes from South Eastern Australia and has aromas of peach and pineapple, with floral overtones. The fruitiness continues in the flavor, with sweet pineapple, melon, and apricot notes. There’s a hint of acidity in the finish, but a bit more would have added some welcome crispness. We paired Alice White Lexia with spicy Hunan chicken, and the combination worked nicely. If your taste runs to a sweet wine with tropical fruit flavors, you could do a lot worse.
Bloggers have mixed opinions on Alice White Lexia. Robert and Marjorie thought it like “a viognier with self-esteem problems” and found it “inoffensive but unfulfilling.” The Vinicode bought it by mistake, but loved the nose and found it a “sweet surprise.” Lyndon at Words Less Spoken expected a dry wine, but found its sweet nature refreshing for hot weather drinking. Chloe, meanwhile, compared Alice White Lexia to “a mixture of Chanel no 5 and pears” and wasn’t keen on the wine’s minimal alcohol content. The Alice White reviews page lists some favorable press reaction to their Lexia.

I can’t believe you bought it for $2. Most Alice White is usually $6-7 around here. Nice blog. I love everyday affordable wines with surpringly good taste. I’ll be back.

The $2 price was for one of their little single-serving bottles - regular bottles cost $6-7, but can be found on sale for less at times. No “Two Buck Alice,” unfortunately.

Is this wine still available? I work at the largest employee owned grocery chain in the nation as well as the number one super market in customer service and we do not have this wine available in our warehouses for our customers. Any ideas what happened?

Alice White Lexia 2006 is available at Winn-Dixie grocery stores for $6.95. I just bought 3 bottles today (April 2008). For sipping, as table wine, or in a marinade for fish. For that price, it is fabulous. Made from Muscat grapes, so it will never get the approval of the snooty wine dudes. For people who drink $7 bottles, it is fabulous. Chill.

I was pleasantly surprised by Lexia. I normally go for Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio and don’t usually like sweet wines, but something about this that was enjoyable.

I bought a couple of bottles of Alice White when holidaying in Florida in October 08. It was just right for a refreshing drink whislt sitting by the pool on a hot day. Have been searching for it since returning to the UK but no luck yet but will keep trying

I’m in love, both red and white scrumpous and affordable, even my husband likes it, surprisingly.
