Merlot Brownies

We don’t normally do recipes here, but we thought we’d mention this one from San Antonio: Merlot Brownies. It uses a whole cup of red wine, along with a cup of flour, a cup of sugar, and a cup of pecans, along with a few other ingredients. We thing that any recipe that mixes wine, sugar, flour, and nuts in a one-to-one ratio is bound to be interesting.

This could be a handy way to dispose of the rest of that bottle of red wine that you don’t think will last another day. Or, if your boss gave you a bottle of undrinkable plonk for Christmas, turn the whole thing into a giant batch of brownies. You’ll be able to tell him/her how much you enjoyed the gift! (Don’t mention the sugar and flour part… 😉

We’ve just about always got a box of Cabernet Sauvignon or some other box wine open, so we may try this out over the holidays. If we do, we’ll report on it. (If YOU try it out, drop a comment here to let everyone know how it turned out!)
